My paintings emerge through a process of discovery, shaped by a dynamic ecosystem of improvisational marks. They are driven by the wonder of uncertainty, the wisdom found in failure, and the humility of getting lost. The act of painting is about seeking that ineffable something we all share.

What I Don’t Know

“I have to remind myself that I don’t need to know where this painting will end up—only that it's trying to answer a question I don’t know how to ask. As I’m working, I strive (clumsily) to invite a state of not knowing—as frustrating and debilitating as it can be much of the time—because that’s why I paint, why most of us paint, I gather, to better understand what we don’t know.
